The Second Terrorism Circuit decided to postpone the trial of 312 defendants in case number 4256 of 2024, Nasr City First Felonies, known as the Al-Nusra Front cell, to the session on December 14 to hear witnesses.
The session was held under the presidency of Justice Wagdy Abdel Moneim, with members Justices Abdel Galil Miftah and Diyaa Amer, and the secretariat of Mohamed Hilal.
The referral order stated that during the period from 2018 until March 18, 2021, the defendants from the first to the twenty-second led a group established contrary to the provisions of the law, aimed at calling for the suspension of constitutional and legal provisions, preventing state institutions and public authorities from performing their duties, and violating freedom.
Defendants from the twenty-third to the two hundred and seventieth joined the accused group knowing its purposes, and some defendants were charged with financing terrorism.
Defendants from the two hundred and seventy-first onwards were charged with participating in a terrorist group by direct and indirect means, knowing its purposes, and the eleventh defendant was charged with joining and training with a terrorist group abroad.
Defendants from numbers 172 to 174 and others were charged with killing “A.A.Q.”, a police officer, killing a police recruit and others, attempting to kill police officers and personnel, and some defendants were charged with possession of firearms, explosives, and ammunition.
