Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency (the Kremlin), stated that there are currently no details about the possibility of new talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump, but he added that “they could be arranged quickly.”

Peskov told reporters, “There are no plans yet,” but confirmed that communications between the Kremlin and Washington continue, noting that there are channels of communication between Russian and American intelligence agencies.

Regarding Ukraine, Peskov said in an interview with RIA Novosti at the Eastern Economic Forum that foreign military units cannot provide security guarantees to Ukraine, pointing out that “security guarantees must be provided for both Ukraine and Russia.”

Peskov said, “Security guarantees for Ukraine can and should be a subject of negotiations.”

The Kremlin spokesperson added that the provisions of the 2022 Istanbul agreements included all security guarantees.

Regarding a Russian-Ukrainian summit, Peskov said a huge amount of work needs to be done before holding a high-level meeting or summit between Russia and Ukraine.

Peskov told TASS agency that “Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Moscow to talk, not to surrender.”

He considered that “talks between Putin and Trump are not easy, as each defends his country’s interests.”
