At a time when complaints about private tutoring are increasing across various governorates, Port Said continues to write a new chapter in its pioneering educational experience, becoming a model to follow in addressing the phenomenon through innovative methods combining digital transformation and field discipline.
Taheer Al-Gharbawy, Director General of the Port Said Directorate of Education, announced the launch of an e-learning initiative to provide free online lessons for preparatory and secondary certificate students via the Directorate’s official Facebook page. This is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at easing the burden on parents and providing disciplined educational content supervised by a select group of the Directorate’s teachers.
Al-Gharbawy confirmed in an exclusive statement to Youm7 that the initiative comes within the state’s keenness to develop educational tools and confront negative phenomena realistically. He pointed out that two educational studios will be equipped to record and broadcast lessons with advanced technical specifications, with a fixed weekly schedule for each subject that considers students’ time management and ease of follow-up.
He explained that the educational system in the governorate includes more than 186,000 students distributed across hundreds of schools at various levels. He affirmed that the new school year began in an atmosphere of discipline and full readiness, thanks to the great support from Major General Mohab Habashy, Governor of Port Said, who directed the provision of labor for schools through contracts with the executive apparatus of the governorate to ensure the continued cleanliness and civilized appearance of schools.
The education director pointed out that cooperation between executive and educational bodies in Port Said has become a model to follow, with cooperation protocols signed with Port Said University to train new teachers, and with the Directorate of Endowments to implement the “Correct Your Concepts” initiative targeting the intellectual and behavioral qualification of the future generation through 40 awareness axes.
Al-Gharbawy also confirmed special care for students with disabilities by integrating them into public schools, alongside specialized schools such as intellectual education and schools for the visually impaired. He noted that Port Said students won 10 nationwide awards last year.
The Director General of Education concluded his statement with a message to parents, saying: “Our goal is for the school to be the natural place for learning, not external centers. School support groups provide a safe environment and strong educational content at a lower cost. We welcome any negatives or observations to be addressed immediately, as the success of the system depends on everyone’s cooperation.”
