Saudi Foreign Minister: The two-state solution is the only path to peace in the region.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the call discussed existing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France in several areas and opportunities to enhance it.
The developments in the region, including the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and efforts to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, were also reviewed.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman renewed Saudi Arabia’s position calling for an immediate halt to the war in Gaza and the necessity of achieving a just, secure, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, as well as condemning any measures that undermine the two-state solution, according to SPA.
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron posted on the platform “X” that he spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, explaining that they will co-chair the two-state solution conference in New York on September 22.
Macron added: “Our goal is clear: to rally the broadest possible international support for the two-state solution, which is the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians. This requires implementing a lasting ceasefire, releasing all hostages, delivering large-scale humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents, and deploying a mission to stabilize Gaza.”
He continued: “We are working to ensure Hamas is disarmed and removed from any authority in Gaza the following day, reform and strengthen the Palestinian Authority, and fully rebuild the Gaza Strip. No attack, annexation attempt, or forced displacement of the population will undermine the momentum we have achieved with the Crown Prince, momentum joined by many partners.”
The French president added: “See you in New York on September 22. Together, let’s make this two-state solution conference a decisive turning point towards peace and security for everyone in the region.”
He considered the US decision not to grant entry visas to Palestinian officials unacceptable, calling for the reversal of this measure and ensuring Palestinian representation in accordance with the host country agreement.
