The Execution and Maintenance Directorate of Greater Irbid Municipality began urgent maintenance work and the construction of new rainwater drainage lines this Sunday morning at the intersection of King Faisal I Street and Al-Hami Street. This is part of the municipality’s efforts to address water accumulation hotspots in the city.
The municipality explained that these works came in response to an emergency situation that worsened after a contractor broke and buried the old drainage line without notifying the municipality, causing the line to malfunction in an area considered a hotspot for rainwater accumulation.
The municipality indicated that its crews had to re-excavate and fully repair the line, in addition to constructing additional water drainage manholes to enhance the network’s efficiency before the start of the rainy season.
The municipality confirmed that the intersection will remain closed to traffic until Monday evening to complete the maintenance work fully.
Citizens were urged to use alternative routes during the closure period, with the municipality emphasizing the importance of these measures to avoid damage caused by water accumulation during the winter season.
