Trump considered artificial intelligence to be “both good and bad” at the same time.

US President Donald Trump described a video showing a black bag being thrown from a second-floor window of the White House, where his private residence is located, as “AI-generated fakeness.”

Trump told reporters, “This is probably AI-generated fake, it must be true because I know every window there, first they are tightly closed, and second, each window weighs about 600 pounds.”

He then requested to watch the video, which was first posted on Instagram over the weekend by the account “washingtonianprobs,” before confirming it was fake.

He considered AI to be “both good and bad” at the same time, seeing “a lot of fake things,” adding, “If something very bad happens, you just blame AI.”

The US president mentioned that First Lady Melania Trump complained about windows not opening, saying, “I want to breathe some fresh air but that’s not possible.”

Trump was not at the White House over the weekend, spending part of his time at his golf club in Virginia.

During the weekend, two informed sources indicated that the video is real and related to ongoing construction and renovation work in the room.

The White House confirmed to the Daily Mail that the video is indeed recent. An official stated that a contractor performing routine maintenance threw an object out of the window while Trump was away from the White House.

Additionally, Professor Hany Farid from the University of California Berkeley and chief scientific officer at the deepfake detection company “Jiet Real” said he saw no evidence that the video was AI-generated or manipulated, according to CNN.

He explained, “We did not detect any digital watermarks sometimes added during AI generation. The shadows in the scene, including the shadow cast by the thrown bag, are all physically consistent.”
