The official spokesperson of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement “Fatah”, Abdelfattah Dola, indicated that the step taken in Beirut and the Palestinian camps, represented by delivering the third batch of weapons of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the Lebanese Army as a deposit, constitutes the largest delivery operation of its kind since July 1991. It included heavy and diverse weapons and is scheduled to cover 10 Palestinian camps out of 12 in Lebanon.

Dola added: “This significant effort is led by the Palestinian National Security Forces under the command of Major General Al-Abd Ibrahim, in full coordination with Lebanese security agencies, confirming the joint Palestinian-Lebanese cooperation towards the agreed goal of extending the Lebanese state’s authority over all its territories and ensuring the exclusivity of weapons in its hands.”

He affirmed that “this step came in implementation of what President Mahmoud Abbas announced with Lebanese President General Michel Aoun on May 21, which is an agreement establishing a new phase of brotherly partnership between the two peoples, based on respecting Lebanese sovereignty and commitment to Lebanese laws.”

Dola stressed that “the fundamental equation agreed upon is not limited to the security aspect only but also includes improving the living, social, and economic conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, ensuring them a decent life, preventing their exploitation or involvement in any external agendas, without affecting their right of return or opening the door to resettlement.”

He concluded: “We want a safe and stable Palestinian camp that preserves its national symbolism as a title for the right of return, and serves as a suitable environment for work, production, and steadfastness, enhancing the presence of the Palestinian refugee in Lebanon as an integral part of his people’s struggle and just cause until return is achieved.”
