The SEBY International Festival for Children’s and Family Cinema is organizing a special program for people with disabilities as part of its first edition, scheduled to be held in Qena Governorate from January 30 to February 3, 2026.
Dr. Mayada Saif, Director of the Disabilities Program at the festival, stated that the first edition will feature specialized workshops and seminars for local people with disabilities, alongside film screenings highlighting their issues and showcasing their societal contributions, in addition to competitions aimed at discovering artistic talents among them, all within the framework of promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.
Dr. Mayada, also Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Businessmen Foundation for Economic Cooperation—the organizing body of the festival—explained that the foundation has given special attention to disability issues for years, launching educational programs, workshops, literacy classes for mothers, annually celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and honoring exemplary mothers.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mostafa Fahmy, founder and president of the SEBY International Festival for Children’s and Family Cinema, confirmed that dedicating a program for people with disabilities is a fundamental step in the festival’s approach to child and family issues comprehensively, emphasizing that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and state agencies pay great attention to this file.
Fahmy added that the first edition aims to open new horizons for cultural exchange among different community groups and enhance human dialogue amid Egypt’s cultural diversity, with a commitment to making the festival a model for supporting and discussing the issues of the most vulnerable groups.
