Barcelona has enlisted Dr. Mohamed Shawky, head of the physiotherapy department of Zamalek Football Club, during the team’s current participation in the IHF Men’s Super Globe (Club World Championship) held in the New Administrative Capital.
This marks the second consecutive time Barcelona has called upon Dr. Shawky, who was part of the medical staff during last year’s Club World Championship held in Egypt as well.
Barcelona qualified for the final match to face Hungarian team Veszprém at 8 PM today, Thursday, after defeating Al Ahly in the semifinals.
Dr. Mohamed Shawky holds the position of head of physiotherapy and performance development and deputy head of the medical staff for Zamalek’s football team. He is currently working on a comprehensive project to develop performance and physiotherapy for Zamalek’s football team, with results expected soon. Previously, he worked at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, one of the world’s leading sports medicine hospitals.
Dr. Shawky has an impressive CV and extensive experience in sports medicine. He earned his PhD in physiotherapy from the University of Montana, USA, and holds a diploma in biomechanics and performance development from Barcelona, Spain.
He also previously chaired the medical committee of the Egyptian Handball Federation and participated with the national team in numerous African, world championships, and Olympic Games.
