The General Authority for Foreign Trade announced today the launch of an anti-dumping investigation on Saudi Arabia’s imports of easy-open aluminum lids for beverage cans with thicknesses ranging from 0.213 mm to 0.250 mm and diameters from 50 mm to 63 mm, originating from or exported by the People’s Republic of China.
This decision comes in accordance with the Trade Remedies System in International Trade issued on November 23, 2022, which states in the first paragraph of Article 4 that “the Authority shall undertake trade remedy tasks including investigations, reviews, and imposing measures in line with the Kingdom’s international commitments, especially the Anti-Dumping Agreement, the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, and the Safeguards Agreement.
Since the issuance of the system, the Authority has conducted several investigations across various industrial sectors aimed at protecting local industry from damage caused by dumped and subsidized imports, preventing an increase in imports, and defending Saudi exports facing trade remedy measures.
