A meeting was held today Wednesday in the Al-Taybeh District Municipality hall in Irbid Governorate to discuss the preparations of the concerned departments for the winter season and the required preventive measures in anticipation of potential flood damages.
The meeting included the district governor and head of the Civil Defense Committee, Dr. Ayman Al-Roumi, along with committee members representing the Civil Defense, security agencies, and official departments.
Al-Roumi emphasized the importance of raising field readiness levels and activating partnership and coordination among various concerned parties to ensure effective response to emergencies and weather conditions, preserving public safety and property.
The district governor presented the comprehensive emergency plan for Al-Taybeh District, prepared in coordination with relevant authorities, stressing the need to update emergency teams’ data and operations rooms in all departments and institutions and link them with the main operations room at the district governorate.
He pointed out the importance of activating coordination between Al-Taybeh Municipality, Public Works Directorates, and Civil Defense to ensure full readiness of machinery and equipment, follow up on cleaning flood channels and rainwater drainage passages, inspect critical points, and prepare shelter centers in mosques and charitable associations in cooperation with the Directorates of Education, Social Development, and Endowments.
Meanwhile, the head of the Al-Taybeh Municipality Committee, Thabet Al-Shreideh, explained that the municipality carried out early campaigns within its winter plan, including cleaning and maintenance of 38 drainage passages and water channels in various areas of the district, completing the readiness of machinery and crews, and allocating a shelter center in the municipality equipped with basic supplies.
During the meeting, the plans and readiness of the concerned departments to deal with emergencies and residents near flood channels were presented, along with providing field assistance to reduce potential damages during the winter season.
