Al Jazeera correspondent reported on Thursday evening hearing two violent explosions in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul.
An official security source told Al Jazeera that the explosions resulted from an aerial strike targeting a car in central Kabul.
The first explosion occurred around 9:50 PM local time (17:20 GMT), followed by a second explosion minutes later.
The Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said on X platform, “The incident is under investigation, but no injuries have been reported so far and everything is fine,” adding that more information will be released later.
Many people on social media reported hearing the explosions and seeing drones in the sky.
Eyewitnesses said security forces were on high alert and conducted vehicle searches in the city streets, while sources reported mobile phone service was cut off in several neighborhoods.
