The semifinals of the Squash Classic Open begin in the early hours of Thursday in New York, USA, held from October 6 to 10, with prize money totaling $55,000. Egypt has secured the women’s title.

Four Egyptian female players qualified for this round: Firooz Abu El-Kheir, Malak Khafagy, Farida Mohamed, and Nada Abbas.

The semifinal matchups are as follows:

    • Nada Abbas vs. Malak Khafagy
    • Farida Mohamed vs. Firooz Abu El-Kheir

    The tournament featured 12 Egyptian players in total:

    • 3 male players: Mostafa Sirtey, Karim El Turky, and Mohamed El Sherbini.
    • 9 female players: Saran Najim, Nour Heikal, Habiba Hany, Menna Hamed, Nada Abbas, Malak Khafagy, Salma Hany, Farida Mohamed, and Firooz Abu El-Kheir.

Meanwhile, Mostafa Asal, a Palm Hills player and world number one, finished runner-up at the Qatar Classic Squash Championship held in Doha from September 28 to October 4, with prize money of $205,000 for men and the same amount for women, placing it in the Platinum category, the second highest tier in squash tournaments.

Mostafa Asal lost the final match to New Zealander Paul Coll 3-1, with game scores of 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5.

In the women’s competition, Hania El Hammamy defeated her compatriot Nour El Sherbini, Sporting’s player and third seed, in the final 3-0, with game scores of 11-6, 15-13, 11-8.
