The first forum for Arab veterinary chiefs, deans, and veterinary medicine officials in the Arab region has just commenced under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, as part of the 13th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University. The event was attended by Dr. Gamal Sosa, Chairman of the Veterinary Studies Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, alongside many veterinary and academic leaders from various Arab countries.

In his speech, Dr. Magdy Hassan, the General Dean of Egyptian and Arab Veterinarians, expressed his sincere appreciation and thanks to the Prime Minister for his generous patronage of this important forum, emphasizing that this support reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to supporting the veterinary profession and enhancing its vital role in achieving food security and protecting public health. He added that holding the forum is a pivotal step towards strengthening cooperation ties between Arab countries and unifying professional visions, contributing to the advancement of the veterinary profession at both the Arab and international levels.

Hassan pointed out that Egypt has already begun taking serious steps to modernize and develop the profession, highlighting the introduction of the “Egyptian Board” which will soon be implemented in the veterinary field to ensure raising the efficiency of veterinarians and improving the quality of services provided.

This forum is the first of its kind in the Arab region, gathering under one roof a select group of deans of veterinary faculties, professional chiefs, and officials concerned with the veterinary sector from different Arab countries, aiming to exchange expertise and visions, discuss ways to develop veterinary education and training, and review successful experiences and best practices in animal health and veterinary medicine.

The forum’s agenda also includes panel discussions and specialized workshops that will address many vital issues, most notably: mechanisms to enhance joint Arab cooperation in veterinary medicine, developing educational curricula to keep pace with scientific progress, supporting applied scientific research in animal wealth, and proposing recommendations that can contribute to advancing the veterinary sector in the Arab region.

The timing of this forum is highly significant, reflecting the magnitude of challenges facing the profession amid global changes related to One Health, and the necessity of unifying Arab efforts to keep pace with these changes, ensuring a prestigious status for the veterinary profession and an effective role in serving communities.
