Technical analyst and lecturer at the Football Association, Abdulmajid Al-Nimr, confirmed that the national team is experiencing one of its best periods in recent years, noting that the current conditions are fully prepared to achieve the dream of qualifying for the upcoming World Cup, especially with the team possessing a distinguished group of players led by Romanian coach Olăroiu Cosmin.
Al-Nimr told “Emarat Al-Youm” in an exclusive statement, “The team has a historic opportunity to reach the World Cup, and the conditions are fully set for that, whether in terms of preparation or the players in the team. There are many positives that give us optimism, while there are some negatives that must be dealt with wisely.”
He added, “One of the main positives is that the team watched the Oman vs. Qatar match, which gives the technical staff a chance to analyze performance and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the opponents before our team meets Oman tomorrow, then Qatar next Tuesday.”
Al-Nimr explained that “Coach Cosmin has great experience in Emirati football after leading Al Ain, Shabab Al Ahli, and Sharjah clubs,” pointing out that “most of the national team players belong to these clubs, which gives him an advantage in dealing with the players and knowing their technical and mental abilities.”
He continued, “Cosmin knows how to utilize the players’ capabilities on the field, which is an important strength benefiting the team, especially in short tournaments that require quick harmony and mutual understanding between the coach and players.”
Al-Nimr pointed out that “the only downside is the rest factor between the two matches,” explaining: “The team will play against Oman tomorrow, then against Qatar in the final match just two days later, while the Qatari team will have five days of rest, which may give them a relative advantage in physical readiness.”
Al-Nimr emphasized that the team is capable of overcoming these challenges, saying: “What distinguishes the White team currently is the fighting spirit and desire to win, and with continued work and focus, I am confident that the team will deliver a performance worthy of the UAE’s name and will be very close to achieving the World Cup dream.”
