MP Michel Al-Jamal, member of the Egyptian Senate, affirmed that the visit by the US Congress delegation to the Rafah land crossing constitutes a strong international testimony to Egypt’s pivotal humanitarian role in supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He explained that this step reflects the international community’s recognition of Egypt’s significant daily efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians despite difficult circumstances and suspicious campaigns aiming to distort facts, which have been disproved by this visit.
Al-Jamal pointed out in a statement that the US delegation praised the Red Crescent volunteers and the Egyptian state’s efforts in preparing and regularly delivering aid to the Gaza Strip, proving Egypt’s full commitment to its humanitarian responsibilities. He confirmed that this massive work is carried out through precise mechanisms including receiving aid via Al-Arish Airport and seaports, then inspecting, preparing, and delivering it through Rafah crossing in full coordination with relevant authorities to ensure it reaches the rightful recipients inside Gaza.
He added that the meeting between the delegation and North Sinai Governor Major General Khaled Magawer, and the detailed briefing they received about the daily humanitarian supply system, reveals the truth behind attempts by some malicious parties to distort the image by claiming the crossing is closed or aid entry is obstructed. He clarified that Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, handles this file with a historic sense of responsibility towards the Palestinian brothers, away from any narrow political calculations.
Al-Jamal confirmed that this visit was not merely a protocol tour but came to refute lies spread by some misleading platforms and to affirm that Egypt is the main gateway for relief to the Gaza Strip amid ongoing field challenges. He stressed that the international community now realizes the burdens Egypt bears to secure the flow of aid and ensure its daily continuity without interruption.
He emphasized that Egypt will continue its steadfast role in supporting the Palestinian cause and working towards calm and civilian protection, noting that this visit sends a strong message to all voices attempting to undermine Egypt’s honorable stance, and that the facts on the ground are the best response to the smear campaigns that have lost credibility worldwide.
On another note, Al-Jamal condemned the US authorities’ decision not to grant visas to the Palestinian delegation to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York next month, considering the decision a serious precedent that constitutes a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and international laws guaranteeing freedom of movement and participation in international forums.
MP Michel Al-Jamal affirmed that such arbitrary measures reveal double standards and confirm clear bias against legitimate Palestinian rights, also depriving the Palestinian people of conveying their voice and just cause to the world through international platforms.
