National security forces at Ibn Battuta Airport in Tangier arrested on Tuesday a 32-year-old French citizen of Algerian origin who was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities in France.
Screening the individual against the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database revealed that he is wanted internationally at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris, suspected of involvement in a case related to kidnapping, detention, and death threats.
According to preliminary investigation data, the foreign suspect kidnapped a Belgian citizen in Brussels in 2024 before detaining him in France, in the context of settling scores between international drug trafficking and narcotics networks.
The suspect was subjected to extradition procedures following instructions from the competent public prosecutor, while the National Central Bureau “Interpol Rabat Office,” affiliated with the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its French counterpart of the arrest pending extradition proceedings.
