State Minister Khalifa Shaheen Al-Murr headed the United Arab Emirates delegation participating in the 165th session of the GCC Ministerial Council meeting, held yesterday in the brotherly State of Kuwait.
The meeting issued a final statement reviewing the latest developments in political, regional, and global issues, and the Council’s position on matters of common interest. It reaffirmed the GCC’s firm stance rejecting the Iranian occupation of the three islands belonging to the UAE: Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa.
The statement also highlighted the importance of enhancing GCC countries’ partnerships with influential countries and groups at the international level, as well as continuing dialogues and developing strategic relations between GCC countries and regional and international states and organizations.
In a related context, the ministers held the second joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and Japan, where they discussed several files of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in various fields.
The joint action plan between the GCC and Japan for the period 2024-2028 was approved, and the GCC Secretariat General was tasked with following up on its implementation.
