- Investing in girls is the best investment in the future and a fundamental step towards building a more just and inclusive society
- The Council will continue its efforts to expand the “Noura” program to reach every Egyptian girl in all governorates
On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl, Counselor Amal Ammar, Chairperson of the National Council for Women, affirmed that celebrating this day confirms the Egyptian state’s commitment to supporting girls’ rights and empowering them in various fields. She pointed out that investing in girls is the best investment in the future, representing a fundamental step towards building a more just and inclusive society.
She explained that the National Council for Women works to enhance girls’ capabilities and provide equal opportunities in education, training, economic and social empowerment through qualitative programs and initiatives, foremost among them the national investment program for girls “Noura,” implemented under the gracious patronage of Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, wife of the President of the Republic. This program reflects the state’s vision to achieve equality and empower new generations of girls, ensuring their effective participation in national development and boosting their confidence and ability to lead change within their communities.
Amal Ammar also stressed that the Council will continue its efforts to expand the program’s scope to reach every Egyptian girl in all governorates, in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
On her part, Ms. Sherine Maher, coordinator of the “Noura” program, reviewed the program’s main achievements since its launch in 2022 in Assiut and Sohag, expanding to include other governorates such as Cairo, Dakahlia, and Beni Suef. The program has reached 17,000 girls, with 10,000 girls graduating after completing a 40-week training course. Additionally, 988 facilitators were trained to conduct awareness sessions, and national ID cards were issued for 3,500 girls.
She added that the “Noor” program for boys was launched with the participation of nearly 2,700 boys and 238 facilitators. The program also implemented community activities such as murals, interactive theater, and film screenings, involving about 48,000 people.
The program continues to develop its components, including mental health, “Noura” champions, and a disability inclusion guide, organizing training and camps to support the capacities of facilitators, girls, and boys. It has also participated in national and international events to showcase the program’s successes and inspiring models of girls.
