The Egyptian trade mission to Ghana’s capital, Accra, will take place from August 25 to 30, 2025, with the participation of 14 Egyptian companies from the Export Council for Chemical Industries and Fertilizers. This initiative aims to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Ghana. The mission is sponsored by Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and coordinated with Ghana’s Ministry of Trade and Agricultural Business, supported by the Egyptian Commercial Representation Office in Accra and the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Accra branch) along with the Ghana Industrial Corporation.

Engineer Khaled Abu Al-Makarem, Chairman of the Export Council for Chemical Industries and Fertilizers, stated that the mission aligns with the council’s strategy to increase access to promising African markets and support the state’s plan to boost sector exports to African countries.

Mohamed Magid, the council’s Executive Director, highlighted Ghana’s importance as a key regional market in West Africa. Egyptian exports of chemical industries and fertilizers to Ghana rose from $27.9 million in 2023 to $41.9 million in 2024, an increase of nearly 50%. Fertilizers led exports with $11.5 million (up 78%), followed by inorganic chemicals at $11.4 million (up 111%), and plastic and polymer products at $11.1 million (up 33%).

Yahya Al-Manshawi, Director of International Cooperation at the council, noted preliminary studies of the Ghanaian market revealed promising opportunities in sectors such as fertilizers and pesticides, paints, glass, detergents, chemicals, inks, adhesives, rubber, and plastics, which are represented by the participating companies.

The mission’s activities will include B2B meetings between Egyptian and Ghanaian companies on August 27, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, enhancing commercial and investment partnerships.

The Export Council continues its efforts to open new markets for Egyptian exports and strengthen Egypt’s commercial presence in Africa.
