China expressed its praise and support for “efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Palestine and Israel,” according to a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, following Donald Trump’s announcement of his plan to end the war in Gaza.
During a regular press briefing, Zhao Lijian said, “We call on all relevant parties to fully implement the relevant United Nations resolutions and to immediately reach a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, release all detainees, and alleviate the humanitarian crisis as soon as possible,” reaffirming China’s support for a two-state solution.
International reactions followed swiftly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced details of his new plan to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, promising that it would bring peace and prosperity to Gaza’s residents without forcing anyone to leave their homes or threatening their neighbors, according to his words.
While Trump obtained approval of his plan from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House is awaiting Hamas’s response. A source familiar with the talks said Egypt and Qatar had briefed Hamas on the plan, and Hamas negotiators informed the mediators that they would study the plan in good faith and provide a response.
