China showcased a range of new weapons on Wednesday during a massive military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, with particular attention given to unmanned combat aircraft.

During the military parade in Beijing, trucks also carried underwater drones along Chang’an Avenue (Eternal Peace), the main street.

According to experts, China can use these giant drones, which resemble torpedoes, as stealth submarines.

The mobile laser weapon (LY-1) also attracted attention; observers believe this weapon, which uses a high-energy laser beam, is capable of repelling swarms of small drones or guided missiles.

Chinese President Xi Jinping aims to demonstrate to the world the progress his army’s equipment has achieved, as well as to his distinguished guests, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The army had already announced plans to showcase new systems produced exclusively in China.

Additionally, Beijing displayed the “Loyal Wingman,” an unmanned aircraft that can support manned fighter jets in operations or carry out reconnaissance missions.

It can be controlled from a command aircraft, such as the J-20 fighter, China’s first locally developed stealth fighter.

Hypersonic missiles were also displayed during the military parade.
