The Ministry of Health and Population organized a visit by the renowned Egyptian expert Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Halawa, Consultant in Organ Transplant Surgery at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and President of the Kidney Educational Academy in the United Kingdom, to the Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment Hospital from October 5 to 9.

This visit was in line with the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange expertise in organ transplantation, aiming to develop this vital specialty within Egyptian healthcare facilities, improve medical staff efficiency, localize advanced surgical expertise, and enhance the quality of medical services provided to patients.

The visit included specialized workshops at the Nasser Institute focusing on practical experience exchange between medical teams and the global expert, which contributed to strengthening surgical capabilities in organ transplantation. The visit also involved reviewing several patient cases and performing 28 successful surgeries for patients from various governorates across the country.

The program aims to provide comprehensive and sustainable medical care for bone patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases, as part of the ministry’s strategy to develop clinical performance and improve healthcare quality.

He also announced the provision of specialized therapeutic services for bone patients with kidney diseases on a permanent basis throughout the year, according to the latest global standards.
