Sheikh Khaled El-Gendy, a scholar from Al-Azhar, expressed that words fail to describe the joy felt over the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement calling for an end to the horrific massacres against our brothers in beloved Palestine. In fact, this agreement has restored life to us.

The steadfast people in Gaza have embodied heroism through their resilience, patience, endurance, and attachment to their homeland, facing a hellish arsenal of killing and destruction machines that spare no child, elder, or woman. We watched scenes of devastation on news screens with hearts torn by pain, water choked the throats of drinkers, tears hardened in the eyes, life lost its joy, and the smell of death filled the air. Even in our prayers, shyness hindered eloquence, as if helplessness prevented us from asking.

I won’t even speak of nightmares, panic dreams, and horror visions that besieged us in our beds, making sleep a daily punishment endured by sleepers.

He continued in exclusive statements: Amidst all this, the bet was on the heroic leader, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, may God protect him, who managed the crisis facing the Zionist camp with wisdom, tact, and competence. He did not lose his composure, did not abandon his principles, nor his constants. He does politics without weakness, rejects with utmost firmness, speaks with utmost kindness, refuses vulgarity, does not resort to slogans, nor engages in conspiracies.

He insisted on declaring rejection of displacement, confronted the conspiracy to empty Gaza of its people, and directed increased support for the Palestinian people medically, nutritionally, and politically. From Egypt, trucks of medicines and food were dispatched to aid our people in Gaza, while Egyptian foreign delegations moved to isolate the Zionist entity in international forums and mobilize global public opinion to save human life in proud Gaza. Platforms echoed with calls from sincere Azhar scholars, and civil society donations poured in, forming an honorable struggle tableau.

For all the above, the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement was like a breath of fresh air to a suffocating chest and a rain shower to a burning house. Salute to the souls of the martyrs, salute to the steadfast positions, and sincere thanks to our beloved president with all prayers for Egypt and Palestine.
