Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharrah received in Damascus a high-level US delegation headed by the United States Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack. The delegation included Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Representative Joe Wilson. The meeting focused on recent developments in Syria and the region, as well as ways to enhance dialogue and cooperation to achieve security and stability. This visit comes amid Israeli advances in southwestern Damascus countryside and escalating tensions in southern Syria following calls for the independence of Sweida province.
