Ahmed Al-Salloum, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee in the Council of Representatives, extended his highest congratulations to Issa Al-Shayji, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ayam newspaper, on his re-election as Chairman of the Board of the Bahraini Journalists Association for the second consecutive time, wishing him success in continuing his efforts to serve the Bahraini press. Al-Salloum also congratulated the newly elected board members, praising the trust they received from the general assembly members. He pointed out that the Bahraini press plays an important and influential role in the national scene, being a key partner in development, a main source of societal awareness, and a platform to convey the concerns and issues of citizens responsibly and professionally. Additionally, it highlights national achievements, consolidates the principles of national unity, and defends the nation’s supreme causes.

Al-Salloum emphasized the prominent status of the Bahraini Journalists Association as a pillar of media work in the Kingdom and its important role in enhancing its professional and national mission. He noted the significant development and broad spaces of responsible freedom witnessed by the press journey in Bahrain, thanks to the comprehensive reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the unlimited support from the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He explained that over twenty-five years since its establishment, the association has achieved many qualitative accomplishments, both in supporting and developing the capabilities of Bahraini journalists and in enhancing the position of the national press in regional and international forums. These achievements would not have been possible without the successive efforts of generations of journalists who have taken on the responsibility of serving and advancing the profession.

The chairman stressed that the legislative authority, led by the Council of Representatives, supports the press body in all its components and pays great attention to empowering the press and enhancing its independence and professionalism, recognizing the significant role of media in serving development paths and consolidating the democratic approach. He added that the Council will remain a supportive pillar for the Journalists Association and all media institutions to strengthen their national contributions.

He concluded by expressing pride in the dedication and sincere efforts of Bahraini journalists in their daily work and their service to society and the nation, stressing that the upcoming phase will be full of more successes for the Bahraini press thanks to the cooperation between various official and civil institutions and the role of the Journalists Association in leading journalistic work towards broader horizons of excellence.
