The British Embassy in Cairo expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for hosting the “important” Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and for Egypt’s leadership in advancing peace efforts in the region.
The embassy stated in a Monday evening statement that Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined other world leaders today in Egypt to participate in the peace summit on Gaza, a crucial step towards ending the conflict and rebuilding lives.
It affirmed, “We will continue to work with Egypt and our partners to advance towards a future of lasting peace, human dignity, and regional stability.”
The embassy mentioned that the United Kingdom has announced a £20 million humanitarian aid package for civilians in Gaza and pledged to play a leading role in the next phase of the peace plan, including reconstruction.
