The Giza Criminal Court sentenced an unemployed man to 7 years in prison for beating a child to death in Hawamdiyah. The incident occurred after a dispute when the accused, Mohammed N.Z., 29, chased the child who had taken a sandwich from a café where the accused was eating. He strangled and struck the child forcefully on the neck and face, causing injuries that led to the child’s death due to a neck injury and a fracture in the right horn of the thyroid cartilage. The accused admitted to the assault but denied intent to kill.
