In his first comment on the signed agreement, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “Abu Mazen” welcomed the ceasefire and the release of prisoners.

In an exclusive interview with Israeli Channel 12, the president emphasized that he has already begun implementing the reforms he committed to, in coordination with the United States. This follows an agreement that once the Palestinian Authority commits to Trump’s reforms, it will take control of the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ma’an news agency.

Abu Mazen said: “I want to say clearly and explicitly, we have launched reforms that also include prisoners’ salaries, and this was done in coordination with and with the approval of the United States. As for all other reforms in education, economy, health, and security, they have all come into effect.”

He added, “Part of the reforms has already been implemented, and work must continue on the other reforms until we reach a situation where the Palestinian Authority is a model to be emulated and a functioning authority capable of continuing to lead the Palestinian people.”

Abu Mazen pointed out that “what happened today and this event represents a historic moment. We hoped and still hope to stop the bloodshed occurring in our region, in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. We are very happy today with the cessation of bloodshed, and we hope to continue on this path so that peace, security, and stability prevail between us and Israel.”

President Abbas expressed his thanks to Trump for “the efforts he made,” affirming that “the recognition of the Palestinian state aims to advance the peace process.”
