The UK government announced that London will host a three-day international conference to discuss ways to recover and rebuild the Gaza Strip, with broad participation from countries and international organizations.

The government said in a statement reported by British media that Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce during the Sharm El-Sheikh summit the allocation of £20 million in urgent humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza, affirming London’s commitment to a leading role in the next phase of the peace plan.

Starmer will also participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, where he will reaffirm his country’s support for international efforts aimed at achieving stability in the region and advancing the reconstruction process on sustainable foundations.

Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Secretary stated that London will play a key role in bringing together the concerned parties and providing the expertise and investments necessary to support reconstruction efforts, stressing that long-term recovery must be led by the Palestinians themselves but requires “significant international investments and serious cooperation.”

The minister added, “The time has come to work quickly and seriously on a comprehensive plan to rebuild Gaza, including debris removal, infrastructure repair, resumption of health services, and rebuilding homes.”

The UK announcement comes as international moves accelerate to launch a new phase of peace and reconstruction following the recent Gaza agreement, which several leaders praised as a first step towards lasting stability in the region.
