Ramez Hossam, the father of the child Farah and an English teacher in Port Said, appeals to the concerned authorities to save his daughter from a rare life-threatening disease.

The grieving father demanded that the Ministry of Social Solidarity quickly open an official account to collect donations to treat his only daughter “Farah,” who is 5 and a half months old, suffering from first-degree spinal muscular atrophy, unable to move or control her neck, and having breathing problems.

Ramez added: “The only available treatment for her condition is an expensive injection costing about 2 million dollars (approximately 100 million Egyptian pounds), but its success rate exceeds 95%, and it can restore her to her normal life. Therefore, I tried to get a report from the hospital to open an account under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, but unfortunately my request was rejected.”

He continued: “Even the temporary pain-relieving treatment, which does not cure the cause but delays deterioration, costs 80,000 pounds every 44 days, and if she stops taking it, she could lose her life at any moment.”

The father concluded his urgent appeal to the Ministry of Social Solidarity to quickly open an official donation account to save “Farah” before it’s too late, saying: “I want to live like any father, see my daughter grow up, smile, and move. The injection is very difficult to provide, and the account must be opened as soon as possible so we can save her.”
