Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and leader of its negotiating delegation in Sharm El-Sheikh, stated that the resistance has received guarantees from Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators, as well as from the U.S. administration, that the war on Gaza has “completely ended.”
Al-Hayya confirmed in a speech on Thursday evening that the agreement reached in Egypt includes “ending the war, withdrawal of occupation forces, entry of aid, and opening of the Rafah crossing in both directions.”
The agreement also requires “the release of 250 Palestinians serving life sentences, and 1,700 prisoners from the Gaza Strip detained after October 7. In addition to the release of all children and women.”
The Palestinian leader also emphasized that the movement “will continue to work to achieve the interests of the Palestinian people, determine their own fate, and realize their rights until the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
“The war criminal government aims to obstruct the implementation of the ceasefire agreement on Gaza”
Meanwhile, Hamas condemned on Thursday evening in a statement “the brutal massacre committed by occupation aircraft on the home of the Ghaboun family west of Gaza City,” despite the ceasefire agreement in the Strip.
The massacre resulted in “the martyrdom and injury of more than 70 innocent unarmed civilians, most of whom are still under the rubble,” according to the statement. It considered that “the war criminal Netanyahu government aims to:
- confuse matters and disrupt the mediators’ efforts,
- and obstruct efforts to implement the ceasefire and aggression halt on Gaza.”
Hamas called in the same statement on “the mediators and the U.S. administration to bear their responsibilities towards these brutal crimes, condemn them, and intervene immediately to compel the occupation to stop targeting innocent children and unarmed civilians.”
Earlier on Thursday, Hamas announced reaching an agreement to end the war on Gaza during negotiations hosted by Egypt under a plan launched by the U.S. president.
According to Hamas’ statement, the agreement includes the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Strip, entry of aid, and prisoner exchange.
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed “signing the first phase of his peace plan between Hamas and Israel.”
Trump said in a post on his social media platform “Truth,” which he owns: “All hostages will be released very soon. Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line.”
