Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmed Al-Hajjar announced that the Lebanese army will present its plan to control weapons to the government on September 2. He noted that there is no threat from Syria towards Lebanon and that coordination between the two countries is ongoing. Al-Hajjar revealed that there are 2,400 Syrian prisoners in Lebanon, representing 30% of the total prisoners. He also highlighted the dismantling of many Captagon factories in cooperation with allied security agencies and emphasized significant efforts and security coordination to combat drugs. The American side is assisting Lebanon in achieving its interests, and the government aims to serve Lebanon’s interests and liberate its land. Al-Hajjar expressed hope that the American envoy will bring solutions to help Lebanon.
He stressed that it is in the interest of all Lebanese to have weapons controlled by the state and affirmed Lebanon’s strength through the unity of its people despite differing views, emphasizing that no Lebanese desires civil war.
