Turkey comments on the purpose of its exercises with Egypt
The training included a number of workshops aimed at unifying operational concepts among participating units, in addition to special forces from both countries conducting a series of live-fire exercises using various weapons, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in combat training methods, accuracy, and professionalism in target engagement.
The participating forces also carried out a set of naval training activities, including the exchange of helicopters on the decks of naval units, boarding and inspection operations of suspicious ships, as well as conducting naval resupply operations and various sailing formations that reflected a high degree of cohesion among the participants and their ability to take required positions with precision and great speed.
The training aims to maximize the benefit of the bilateral capabilities of both sides and exchange expertise in securing maritime operational theaters against various threats.
The final phase of the training was attended by several commanders of the Egyptian and Turkish navies.
This exercise comes within the framework of enhancing military cooperation and raising the readiness of the Egyptian Armed Forces and their ability to work jointly with their counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries.
It is worth noting that the “Friendship Sea” exercises first started in 2009 in the Mediterranean waters and continued annually until 2013, before being suspended due to political tensions between Cairo and Ankara.
The resumption is seen as an indicator of a tangible improvement in bilateral relations and a shared desire to strengthen security and defense cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
