Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Sharif, the Senior Undersecretary and Head of the Egyptian Trade Representation, received Engineer Salah El-Din Abdel Karim Awad, Chairman of the General Petroleum Corporation, today at the headquarters of the Egyptian Trade Representation. This meeting marks the beginning of cooperation between the two parties in external marketing and attracting foreign investments, aiming to establish a joint plan to increase exports of petroleum products and attract new investments in exploration and research.
During the meeting, Engineer Salah El-Din Abdel Karim expressed the corporation’s aspiration to benefit from the services of the Trade Representation and its network of offices abroad to promote the corporation’s activities and products, as well as those of its subsidiaries, and to attract foreign investments in exploration and research, contributing to the development of the petroleum sector, increasing production, and securing future needs of petroleum products.
For his part, Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Sharif welcomed cooperation with the General Petroleum Corporation, as the entity responsible for supervising the petroleum sector, emphasizing the importance of preparing a joint work plan aimed at increasing petroleum exports and attracting new investments in priority value chains, in line with the state’s directions to enhance exports and attract investments.
The Head of the Egyptian Trade Representation also stressed readiness to provide the necessary support through a network comprising 44 offices in 43 countries, working to open new foreign markets, facilitating B2B meetings between the corporation and its counterparts from companies and entities abroad, and providing the corporation with market studies, access requirements, and technical specifications in target markets.
The meeting included discussions on work mechanisms and potential investment avenues. Both parties agreed to form a joint working team to study export and investment opportunities and closely explore available foreign markets, paving the way for an executive joint program and follow-up steps to achieve the targets.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Fathy, Assistant Chairman of the General Petroleum Corporation, and Alaa El-Baily, Commercial Counselor and Director of Investment Promotion Affairs.
