On Friday evening, television programs covered many important issues and topics that concern the Egyptian citizen and public opinion.
Samir Omar: Netanyahu openly declared that the existence of a Palestinian state is a threat to Israel
Journalist and media figure Samir Omar, head of the news channels sector at the United Media Services Company, said that US President Donald Trump referred in a recent press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu to the efforts made by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for peace, affirming that Egypt does not need Trump’s recognition.
Omar added in his interview with media presenter Nashat Al-Dehi on the program “With Paper and Pen” on Ten TV that Egypt’s role in the Palestinian issue is recognized by all, even before Trump appeared on the political stage.
He noted that the press conference also mentioned Gulf leaders and the Turkish president, and Trump, in his view, wanted to give an Arab and Islamic cover to what was presented by approving it.
He explained that Trump’s plan faces many problems and obstacles, but the most important obstacle is what Netanyahu said, not Trump. The Israeli Prime Minister said, “There is no Palestinian state, and its existence is a threat to Israel,” and more dangerously, Trump said he understands that.
Salah Abdel-Aty to “Al-Hayat Al-Youm”: Trump’s plan came to save Israel from its isolation
Dr. Salah Abdel-Aty, head of the International Authority for the Defense of Palestine, confirmed that the new American plan presented by President Trump came as a result of several factors, including the failure of Israel and the US to achieve their military and political goals.
In his interview with presenter Lubna Asal on the program “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” on Al-Hayat TV, Abdel-Aty explained that the US found itself in a difficult position after failing to convince its closest allies to postpone recognition of the State of Palestine, in addition to increasing pressure from the Zionist lobby and the Jewish community in America, the international consensus at the UN General Assembly, and the scale of the “most heinous crime in human history” in Gaza.
He said Trump declared his desire to save Israel from itself and its isolation, which is why he proposed this initiative. He pointed out that the new plan is a mix combining the Blair-Kushner plan and some features of the Arab plan, and it came after the failure of the displacement project thanks to the steadfastness of the Palestinians and Egypt’s decisive stance, which formed a barrier against these schemes.
Regarding the plan’s content, Abdel-Aty confirmed that no Palestinian or Arab party can refuse to discuss any plan aimed at stopping the “genocidal war,” but he stressed that it is far from the “justice approach” that requires the withdrawal of the occupation and holding Israel accountable for its crimes.
He revealed Egypt’s pivotal role in dealing with the plan, saying: “Egypt, without rejecting these approaches, proposed a key point to fence the plan, which is that it should be decided by the Security Council.” He explained that this demand aims to “prevent the US from monopolizing the plan and to remain one of the guarantees for its implementation.”
Imad El-Din Hussein to “Al-Sa’a 6”: The Egyptian-Emirati summit focused on “Trump’s plan”
Journalist Imad El-Din Hussein confirmed that the summit between the Egyptian and Emirati presidents came at a very important time, considering that “timing is the hero of today’s scene,” as the visit came just days after President Donald Trump presented his initiative regarding Gaza.
In his analysis during a call with presenter Azza Mustafa on the program “Al-Sa’a 6” aired on Al-Hayat TV, Hussein explained that the meeting was mainly dedicated to discussing the details of the American plan, its repercussions, potential outcomes, and how to deal with it. He said, “My meeting today was largely dedicated to discussing this plan in detail, its repercussions, and whether there are obstacles that can be overcome or formulations that can be modified.”
He described the proposed plan, which consists of 21 points, as containing “many positives and many negatives,” stressing the need to look at it objectively. He added, “Viewing it as an absolute good is incorrect, and viewing it as an absolute evil is also incorrect.”
He pointed out that there is a preliminary consensus between Egypt and the UAE on dealing with this initiative, which he described as “a very important development.” He confirmed that the fundamental Arab goal of any movement is to achieve several non-negotiable constants: “Immediate cessation of Israeli aggression… stopping massacres and preventing forced displacement of Palestinians… ensuring the Palestinian people remain in their land in Gaza… obtaining a commitment not to annex the West Bank.”
Hussein concluded his analysis by saying that the Arab consensus, led by Egypt and the UAE, focuses on how to build on the positive aspects of the plan and exploit them to achieve these basic goals and protect Palestinian rights.
Tourism Minister to “Kalima Akhira”: The Grand Egyptian Museum opening will feature a spectacular ceremony
Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy revealed in a special interview with presenter Ahmed Salem on the program “Kalima Akhira” that the upcoming opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum will be “spectacular,” befitting the significance of the event, focusing on welcoming Egypt’s guests and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, whom he described as the “main patron” of the ceremony.
The minister explained that this opening is completely different from the royal mummies transfer ceremony, as it will not involve moving any artifacts. He said, “This opening focuses on welcoming Egypt’s guests and the president’s guests… it is a large event befitting the museum.” He added that the president pays “unprecedented” attention to the museum and follows its developments “in detail,” always keen to complete the work “as quickly as possible and in the best form.”
The minister announced that preparations and arrangements for the museum’s opening are 99% complete, and the museum will be closed for 15 days before the official opening to apply the final touches. He also pointed out that other events will continue for several days after the main ceremony.
