The Office of Private Education Affairs in the Emirate of Ajman issued a circular regarding the protection of students in private schools, mandating the appointment of a trained and certified Protection Officer in each school, providing safe and confidential reporting channels, along with organizing mandatory annual training programs for staff and awareness workshops for students and parents about children’s rights and protection mechanisms.
The office emphasized that failure to comply with the circular’s provisions will expose violating schools to legal and administrative accountability, including fines, license suspension, disciplinary actions against violating staff, and referral to competent authorities when necessary. The office stressed its commitment to providing a safe educational environment that preserves the dignity of all students and protects their rights, in line with the national policy for child protection in educational institutions.
The administrative circular, numbered (6) for the year 2025, obliges private schools in the emirate to prevent and combat all forms of abuse against students, whether physical, psychological, verbal, or electronic, in addition to preventing neglect, discrimination, harassment, and bullying. It also stresses the necessity of establishing internal protection systems and procedures and promoting a culture of protection among students, staff, and parents.
Mohamed Khalil Al Hashmi, Executive Director of the Office of Private Education Affairs, said in a press statement yesterday that protecting private school students is a top priority, and through this circular, they aim to ensure a safe educational environment in harmony with the national child protection policy in educational institutions.
