The UAE warned Israel on Wednesday that any annexation of the West Bank would be a red line for the UAE and would severely undermine the Abraham Accords under which relations with Israel were normalized.
Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, said: “From the beginning, we have seen the accords as a means to continue supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspirations for an independent state.”
She added, “This was our position in 2020, and it remains our position today.”
Nusseibeh also said, “We call on the Israeli government to halt these plans. Extremists of any kind must not be allowed to dictate the region’s path. Peace requires courage, perseverance, and a refusal to let violence determine our choices.”
