The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta continued its advocacy and fatwa efforts in North Sinai Governorate by participating in the new fatwa convoy heading to the governorate in cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Awqaf. This is part of a series of joint convoys aimed at spreading enlightened moderate thought, correcting mistaken religious concepts, and confronting manifestations of extremism and intellectual and moral deviation, contributing to consolidating values of moderation and coexistence within society.
The convoy included three fatwa secretaries from Dar Al-Ifta: Sheikh Mohamed Kamal Ahmed Mohamed, Sheikh Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamed Anwar Shalaby, and Sheikh Mohamed Sami Hamed Hamed Youssef.
The joint convoy was received by Sheikh Mahmoud Marzouk, Director of the North Sinai Awqaf Directorate, on Thursday afternoon, in preparation for its activities launching on Friday morning to the mosques of Sheikh Zuweid, Al-Joura, and Rafah.
As part of the convoy’s activities, Sheikh Mohamed Kamal Ahmed Mohamed, Fatwa Secretary at Dar Al-Ifta, held a radio interview with North Sinai Radio in Al-Arish on Thursday, discussing the October 6 victories and the importance of recalling the meanings of steadfastness, determination, and sacrifice embodied by the heroes of the Egyptian Armed Forces in the Battle of Honor and Dignity. He emphasized that the true victory is the victory of values, faith, and awareness, which should be reflected in the behavior of new generations in serving the homeland.
Members of the convoy also delivered Friday sermons in several mosques in North Sinai. Sheikh Mohamed Kamal Ahmed Mohamed delivered his sermon at Amr ibn Al-As Mosque in Wadi Al-Omr in the Al-Quseima area. Sheikh Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamed Anwar Shalaby delivered the Friday sermon at Al-Mu’mineen Mosque in Al-Jahamat in Al-Quseima, while Sheikh Mohamed Sami Hamed Youssef delivered the sermon at Al-Rahman Mosque in Wadi Al-Omr in Al-Quseima.
The Friday sermon was titled “Correct Your Concepts,” in which the preachers addressed the Ministry of Awqaf’s initiative of the same name, affirming that it represents a scientific and educational vision aimed at correcting wrong concepts and rebuilding societal awareness on sound foundations combining faith, knowledge, and proper behavior.
The sermon touched on several concepts needing correction, including cheating in exams, which represents a religious and moral betrayal, vandalism of public property as a violation of citizenship and belonging values, as well as the necessity of reforming family relationships and correcting the concept of guardianship in Islam as a duty based on mercy and justice, not domination or oppression.
Convoy members confirmed that the “Correct Your Concepts” initiative is an important step towards renewing religious discourse, consolidating the authentic values of Egyptian society, and building a national individual enlightened by his religion and aware of his role towards his country and society, citing the Quranic verse: “And whoever saves one [life] – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.” (Quran 5:32)
The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta’s participation in these convoys continues its role in enhancing advocacy and awareness presence, supporting state efforts to consolidate values of tolerance and moderation, and building sound religious awareness that contributes to achieving intellectual and societal security throughout the homeland, especially in dear Sinai.
