The General Authority for Statistics issued its International Merchandise Trade Bulletins for June 2025 and the second quarter of the same year. The June bulletin revealed a continued growth in non-oil exports including re-exports, which rose by 22.1% compared to June 2024. National non-oil exports excluding re-exports increased by 8.4%. The value of re-exported goods rose by 60.2%, while total merchandise exports increased by 3.7%, despite a 2.5% decrease in oil exports. Consequently, the share of oil exports in total exports declined to 70.2% in June 2025 from 74.7% in June 2024.
Merchandise imports rose by 1.7%, improving the ratio of non-oil exports to imports to 39.2% compared to 32.7%. The trade balance surplus increased by 10.6% compared to the same month last year. Chemical industry products led non-oil exports with 24.5% of the total, followed by electrical machinery and equipment at 23.3%. Electrical machinery and equipment also topped imports at 30.6%.
China remained the Kingdom’s main trading partner, accounting for 15.5% of total exports and 27.9% of total imports in June 2025.
For the second quarter of 2025, non-oil exports continued to grow by 17.8% compared to the same quarter in 2024, with national non-oil exports rising by 5.6% and re-exported goods increasing by 46.2%. However, total merchandise exports fell by 7.3% due to a 15.8% decline in oil exports, reducing the oil export share from 74.7% in Q2 2024 to 67.9% in Q2 2025.
Merchandise imports increased by 13.1% in Q2 2025 compared to the previous year, while the trade balance surplus dropped by 56.2%. The ratio of non-oil exports to imports rose to 37.3% from 35.8%. Chemical products led non-oil exports with 23.0%, followed by electrical machinery and equipment at 21.7%, which also represented the largest imported goods at 28.9%.
China was again the Kingdom’s main trading partner in Q2 2025, with 14.2% of total exports and 27.4% of total imports.
