We need trust and integrity in implementing the provisions to transform the Gaza tragedy into a beginning of renaissance.

It is mistaken to believe that President Donald Trump’s initiative is the final solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. In reality, it is a general principles agreement and framework agreed upon by the direct parties to the conflict and their supporters to achieve three main goals:

    • Stopping the Gaza tragedy.
    • Exchanging Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
    • Allowing humanitarian aid to enter to restore life for Gaza’s residents.

These are the absolute priorities for each party and a beginning – if successfully implemented, God willing – that can be built upon and moved to the next phase and beyond.

The most important question in the second phase involves three new challenges:

    • The future of Hamas’ weapons.
    • The withdrawal of all fighting factions from Gaza, including fighters and police.
    • The start of the new authority’s activity in Gaza in administration and civil police.

Once these points are settled and applied on the ground, early recovery operations in all service sectors (health, education, transport, electricity, water, etc.) will begin.

This rapid movement will require major companies and unlimited funding in preparation for starting reconstruction and rebuilding projects after Gaza, which covers 365 km², lost more than 85% of its urban construction across all sectors.

We need trust and integrity in implementing the provisions to transform the Gaza tragedy into a beginning of renaissance, restoration, and development.

If all this is achieved, meaning adherence to the 20 provisions in President Trump’s initiative, we can then reach the most important missing provision: the political track for a two-state solution.
