U.S. President Donald Trump is visiting Tel Aviv today for no more than four hours, in what is described as the shortest visit by a U.S. president to Israel.
The visit coincides with the return or arrival moments of released hostages to the country. This is Trump’s first visit to Israel since taking office in 2025, with his last visit during his first presidency in 2017.
There was consideration for Trump to meet the released hostages, but medical and psychological concerns prevented this to maintain their stability after the traumatic experience they endured.
Despite the short duration of the visit, expected to last only a few hours, it is packed with meetings and events.
According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli arrangements have put the country on a high alert called “Trump Alert” from early morning until 2 PM, with unprecedented security preparations and expected traffic congestion on roads leading to Ben Gurion Airport and Jerusalem.
According to the schedule, the president’s plane lands at 9:29 AM, and he will head directly to Jerusalem in his armored presidential car, “The Beast,” specially transported from the United States, accompanied by a convoy of security vehicles.
After leaving the airport, Trump will go to the Knesset in Jerusalem, expected to arrive at 10:10 AM. He will enter through the Knesset members’ entrance and sign the visitors’ book, then meet with Netanyahu and Herzog in the Prime Minister’s office. Later, the three will meet with the families of the kidnapped in the “Chagall” hall, attended by Sara Netanyahu.
More than 4,000 Israeli police officers are securing the visit. Highway 1 (Jerusalem – Tel Aviv) will be closed in both directions from 7 AM until the end of the visit, as reported by Ynet. Alternative highways 443, 386, 395, 60, and 90 will be used, while several roads inside and around Jerusalem will be closed.
President Trump’s plane will depart at 1 PM, heading to Egypt, where he will participate in the historic Sharm El-Sheikh summit, which will bring together President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and a number of Arab and European leaders to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip and ways to consolidate the ceasefire agreement.
