DP World revealed that its $2.5 billion investment in 2025 will contribute to developing an integrated logistics infrastructure worldwide, supporting the creation of thousands of new jobs in the construction sector.

Currently, about 5,000 new jobs are being provided to help implement major transport projects in India, the UK, Ecuador, Senegal, and Congo, highlighting the economic transformation accompanying the group’s commitment to facilitating trade flow. The global supply chain solutions sector already directly employs more than 100,000 people.

DP World’s Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, said: “We are pleased that our investment will provide jobs for around 5,000 people this year alone, contributing to significant upgrades in transport infrastructure across five different countries.”

He added: “Trade has the power to change people’s lives, and these new jobs represent a practical way to achieve that. Upon completion, construction workers will leave a legacy of logistics infrastructure that will benefit customers, communities, and continents for the next 50 years.”

According to DP World, India, the main growth market, will see 2,000 new construction jobs this year through the development of a new terminal in Tuna Tekra in the northwest of the country, plus another 500 jobs from the delivery of railway and inland terminals in India.

In Senegal, the construction of a brand-new deep-sea port in Ndayane will generate 600 jobs. About 3,000 miles along the west coast of Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DP World’s Banana port will provide around 500 jobs to build the country’s first deep-water seaport.

Meanwhile, DP World’s $1 billion expansion of London Gateway port, including two new berths and a second rail terminal, will create 1,000 new jobs. This logistics hub near London is expected to become the largest port in the UK by the end of this decade.

Across the Atlantic in Ecuador, the DP World – Posorja expansion project will provide more than 300 construction jobs through its contractor, plus over 100 new direct operational jobs.

DP World confirmed that upon project completion, infrastructure at all five sites will support thousands of additional direct and indirect jobs, enhance transport connectivity, and boost economic growth in their regions. The Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai alone directly employs 160,000 people.

DP World is building a unique portfolio of assets and capabilities worldwide to help its customers maintain competitiveness in a rapidly changing business environment with unexpected transformations.
