The 164th ordinary session of the Arab League Council began today, Monday, at the level of permanent delegates, chaired by the UAE, succeeding Jordan.

Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh, head of the Jordanian delegation, said in a press statement that a political and diplomatic movement must be implemented to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, stressing the necessity of providing the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and ensuring their legitimate rights.

Al-Adayleh handed over the chairmanship of the meeting from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the previous session chair, to the United Arab Emirates, whose delegation is headed by Ambassador Abdullah Hamdan Al-Naqbi, in preparation for submitting recommendations and decisions to the Arab ministerial meeting scheduled for next Thursday to approve them within a comprehensive Arab vision to enhance joint Arab action in facing regional and international challenges.

The meeting focuses on discussing developments in the Palestinian issue, efforts to recognize the Palestinian state, and ways to stop the “aggression.”
