On Wednesday, the Ministry of Youth and the Petra Development and Tourism Authority signed a cooperation agreement to establish a five-a-side football field in the Dalagha area. The project aims to enhance the role of youth and provide a safe environment for sports and cultural activities in the region.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Sami Al-Adwan, and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Authority, Dr. Fares Al-Breizat. It stipulates that the project will be funded from the Ministry of Youth’s allocations within the 2025 budget of the Ma’an Governorate Council.
According to the agreement, the Petra Authority will prepare the technical and engineering studies, issue the implementation tender, and supervise the project phases. This includes technical solutions for rainwater drainage, construction of retaining walls, and paving the road leading to the field when financial allocations are available.
Al-Adwan stated that the agreement is part of the ministry’s efforts to develop infrastructure for youth and sports facilities, providing safe and supportive spaces that enable youth to invest their time, develop skills, and carry out their activities.
He emphasized that the ministry adopts an open policy of partnership with all official and national institutions to serve the youth sector and achieve optimal resource investment. Meanwhile, Al-Breizat said the signing reflects the authority’s commitment to providing developmental projects serving the local community in Petra, especially the youth who are the cornerstone of the nation’s future. He confirmed that the authority is working to establish suitable facilities for youth across the six communities of Petra and that the Dalagha field will not be the last in the area.
It is worth noting that the Petra Authority previously established a similar five-a-side field in the Umm Sayhoun area, which was launched a few months ago.
