In a hopeful national atmosphere, the city of Homs witnessed a large public event this evening on the occasion of the launch of the Syrian Development Fund in the governorate square, with wide attendance from citizens, official figures, and media representatives.
Ghazwan Al-Nakdali, Director of the Events Office at the Political Affairs Directorate in Homs, explained that the fund enjoys financial and administrative independence and operates under the direct supervision of the Presidency, ensuring transparency in performance and directing resources towards vital projects. The fund’s work includes providing facilitated loans to support community initiatives, rehabilitating infrastructure, and creating job opportunities for youth, with a focus on small projects and local development.
Several citizens and activists expressed their support for the initiative. Media figure Amir Abdel Baqi affirmed that the fund represents a strong push towards community development, while activist Hussam Badr Khan emphasized the importance of the initiative in improving service, educational, and health sectors, especially in Homs, which suffered significant losses. Activist Mohammed Hammadi considered the fund an opportunity for every citizen to directly contribute to building the future, while Somaya Shellar saw the project as contributing to improving basic services and providing job opportunities for youth.
The launch of the Syrian Development Fund from the heart of the governorate is not just an event, but an announcement of a new beginning that stems from and is for the people. Amid the stones of the old city and the enthusiastic voices of youth, Homs proves it is still capable of rising and shaping the future.
