On Monday, Israeli bulldozers demolished commercial structures in Hebron governorate in the southern occupied West Bank, while settlers prevented some Palestinians from returning to their lands. Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli bulldozers demolished several commercial buildings in the large Annab area near the town of Al-Ramadin south of Hebron, citing construction without permits in areas classified as Area C. The Israeli army fired tear gas grenades at citizens present in the area, causing several cases of suffocation that were treated on-site. Israel prohibits Palestinians from building or expanding in Area C without permits, which are nearly impossible to obtain according to local and international organizations. The Oslo II Accord of 1995 classified West Bank lands into three areas: Area A under full Palestinian control, Area B under Israeli security and Palestinian civil and administrative control, and Area C under full Israeli civil, administrative, and security control.

Meanwhile, settlers, protected by the Israeli army, prevented the residents of the Joura Al-Khail Bedouin area adjacent to the town of Sa’ir north of Hebron from returning to their lands, according to Sa’ir’s mayor, Mousa Al-Faroukh. Al-Faroukh stated that the return of citizens to their lands was in implementation of an Israeli court ruling, but settlers prevented Palestinian families from returning to their homes and assaulted them. He explained that instead of enforcing the court decision, the army declared the area a closed military zone and prevented residents from accessing it. The citizens were forcibly displaced from their homes in November 2024 due to settler attacks but obtained a ruling from the Israeli Supreme Court in early March allowing them to return. He added that the army was supposed to secure the residents’ return today but instead provided protection to the settlers.
