Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that an army strike targeted “Abu Obaida,” the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas in Gaza.
Netanyahu added in a statement issued by his office after the weekly government meeting that the Shin Bet (internal security service) and the army launched “an attack on the Hamas spokesperson… ‘Abu Obaida.’ We do not know the final outcome yet, and I hope he is no longer among us.”
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also confirmed the “killing” of Abu Obaida in a joint operation carried out by the army and the Shin Bet in the Gaza Strip on Friday.
