The International Handball Federation is conducting the draw for the Handball Club World Championship today at 11 AM at Cairo International Stadium. The tournament is scheduled from September 26 to October 2 and is held alongside the World Youth Championship hosted by Egypt.
The participating teams are divided into three levels:
Level One: Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Sharjah from the UAE
Level Two: Veszprém from Hungary, Magdeburg from Germany, and Barcelona from Spain
Level Three: Sydney from Australia, Taubaté from Brazil, and California Eagles from the USA.
Egypt has had the honor of hosting the Club World Cup for three consecutive editions starting last season.
Al Ahly participates as the African Super Cup champion, and Zamalek as the host team, according to the Egyptian Handball Federation’s request led by Khaled Fathy.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian national handball team under 19 qualified for the main round of the World Championship, topping Group Seven by defeating South Korea, Bahrain, and Japan. The Pharaohs’ descendants are now in Group Four of the main round alongside Japan, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
The youth team will face the Czech Republic tomorrow at 7:30 PM in the opening match of the main round of the World Championship currently hosted by Egypt under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, continuing until August 17.
