The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the plan announced by US President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, noting that any international effort aimed at ending the crisis and putting an end to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza deserves praise, engagement, and contribution.
Al-Budaiwi affirmed in a statement on Tuesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that a ceasefire, the immediate and direct lifting of restrictions on aid delivery, preventing the displacement of the population, and protecting them are priorities that should be at the core of any responsible international action. He stressed that the success of any initiative depends on serious implementation, ensuring civilian protection, and providing suitable conditions for stability.
He pointed out that the GCC views the proposed steps positively, which could contribute to paving the way for a real and just path that guarantees the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Budaiwi explained the GCC’s readiness to cooperate with regional and international partners to support every effort that contributes to ending the crisis in the Gaza Strip and formulating a solution that preserves all the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution, and achieves security and stability in the region.
